POA tuition is one of the strenuous teaching sessions to be conducted based on personal opinion. The subject matter is dry. POA tuition is not like any other sessions where there are nice pictorial images to view. Looking at accounts will never interest anyone into wanting to take a second look at it. So, how should a POA tutor makes it better for a student?

Make POA tuition interesting by relating to life events

The subject of Principles of account POA might be dry. Yet, it is how the POA tutor can relate it to real life that makes the subject interesting. For example, POA tuition need not be conducted by looking at questions and going through answers. This sort of questions and answer way of teaching POA bores the student to the max.

Instead, talk about how POA can be applied to student’s current life.  How does one look at his own income and expense and thus, able to obtain ‘profit’ or ‘loss’ in their daily lives. In this way, the student is not looking at a question but looking at his or her own life through the eyes of POA. 

Connection with the student during POA tuition sessions is as important as the POA knowledge itself

Nowadays, POA tuition sessions are not just merely sessions whereby students gain knowledge. It is a place where connections and bonds are made. No longer must tutors look at themselves as sender of knowledge information but rather a facilitator of knowledge acquisition. Rather than adopting the mindset of a ‘means to an end’ teaching style, a POA tutor must be a catalyst of their desire for knowledge. 

Interaction between the POA tutor and students are key to making the process possible. When the students can connect with the POA tutor, naturally, they will be more receptive to the subject matter. Has any students like any subjects that has a horrible teacher that scolds and punish students? Thus, POA tuition session should be made lively and not a dull delivery of double entries, double entries and more double entries.

So, that been said, is it possible to make every one love POA tuition?

I will be frank about this. The answer is ‘No’. As much as I would love to make it likable to everyone. It is impossible to motivate some students during the POA tuition. Sometimes, students just hate looking at figures. Well, to make such students like POA, you got to make them like figures first and that itself is a big challenge.

I do acknowledge the fact that some students are more artistically inclined and thus, subjects that demand analytical skills are just not appealing to them. In such situation, it will be better to motivate them by a ‘get it done and over with’ mindset. We, POA tutors are not god after all. We can only try our best to influence. To be able to change a student from hating POA and influencing them to liking the subject and pursuing business modules in future would be the greatest satisfaction that any POA tutor could dream of.
